Functional Skills Practitioner

We’re looking for an experienced Functional Skills Practitioner to join our enthusiastic team at GTG across the Midlands

Hours

This is a full-time role: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4.30pm (half hour break for lunch).

This role will include hybrid working – at home and at the GTG centre.

About the role

The role will involve delivering both level 1 and level 2 functional skills qualifications to a range of learners on our apprenticeship programmes.

The ideal candidate will be an effective practitioner with a minimum of three years’ teaching experience. They will have excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage their own time while still achieving KPIs.

They will be able to pair and adapt teaching materials, update learner progress and deliver effective feedback to all learners. They will have to regularly assess learning outcomes to re-sequence curriculum as is necessary for all individuals to achieve their qualification.

Day-to-day duties

  • Teach each module in accordance and in line with the curriculum
  • Provide IAG
  • Assess, sequence and differentiate in practice
  • Update, assess and map all criteria achieved within the e-portfolio platform
  • Provide targeted learning support by utilising the learners’ IA/diagnostic results
  • Work with colleagues to support learners, and provide transparency of progress
  • Support colleagues, including other practitioners and development coaches of apprentices
  • Any other reasonable duties

Essential skills

  • Teaching qualification (essential) minimum level 3
  • English qualification (essential) minimum level 3
  • Mathematics qualification (essential) minimum level 3
  • Minimum of three years’ teaching experience (delivering Maths or English)
  • Excellent time keeping and attendance record

Nice to have but not essential…

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship standards
  • Prior knowledge of an electronic e-portfolio platform is desirable
