Training:

You’ll attend block release training at GTG Training in Wolverhampton, a modern facility with industry-standard equipment, where expert trainers will help you develop your technical skills and knowledge.

What Might a Typical Day in this Job look like? 

You will be based within the garage workshop and will be involved in learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, removal, replacement and overhaul of major components and electrical fault diagnostics. 

Examples of the units covered are:  

• Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the automotive environment  

• Inspection of light vehicles  

• Diagnosing and rectifying chassis units and components  

• Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle engines and component faults  

• Ensuring your own actions reduce risks to health and safety  

• Contributing to workplace good housekeeping  

What qualifications or qualities are required? 

GCSE Level 4/C or above in Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject or equivalent  

What personal qualities are required? 

• We are looking for candidates who want to kickstart their career in the automotive industry and who are keen to learn. 

• You must be dedicated and have a proactive approach to your work and learning. 

• You are able to prioritise and work to timelines.  

• A willingness to work in a practical environment using your own initiative. 

• A full UK Driving licence is not essential but preferred.
